In my two years of blogging, with more than 800 followers, thousands of likes, hundreds of comments, I have encountered hundreds of different, talented and amazing writers along the way. I am blessed and will be forever thankful to be a part of this community. WordPress gave me a chance to be different and to embrace my weirdness.
Through the years, I’ve met a variety of bloggers, and I decided to share it with you.
Here it goes.
1. THE PASSIONATE BLOGGERS – I’d like to think that I am one of these people. They are in love with WordPress, they are driven and motivated to read, post and interact with the community. They post according to a coherent schedule, they make sure that their page is designed to attract readers and followers. They also motivate and impel current and new bloggers to do better as their page grows.
2. THE READERS – This is not a common type of blogger, I admit that although I read blogs all the time, I don’t always read long posts. We all tend to get bored when we are faced with five pages of tedious writing and a lot of us are lazy enough to just scroll down completely and press the like button without even reading the post. But these bloggers are laudable, they have a tremendous respect for reading. They are always interested, their hunger is always insatiable, they love indulging in the euphoric comfort of any written narrative. Clap!
3. THE COMMENTATORS – One of my favourite bloggers. They are sweet, kind and generous, they don’t just read, they also give feedbacks, suggestions and critique. They motivate bloggers by engaging in short but inspiring interactions. I believe that commenting and engaging in conversations through the comment section is one of the effective ways to grow your page and gain more followers, not just in WordPress, but also in other social media platforms.
4. THE HELLO/GOODBYE BLOGGERS – It’s hard to start a blog, although it’s rather simple to make an account and start blogging afterwards, keeping your page alive and active is a complex task, you have to give extra time, resources, you have to always put something new every couple of days or every week, it depends on how much you wanna put out, you have to post on a regular basis, you have to be there. These bloggers are the ones who start a blog with a purpose of sharing their experiences, their thoughts, their struggles, to the world. Everyone of us, I think, had the same purpose when we started out, but these people, they post once, and when they realise the amount of attention that they have to give the page, that you can’t have 100 followers just in a day, that you have to work for it, they puss out, they give up, and completely become inactive. They start and quit the same day. Totally sad.
5. THE PROMINENT BLOGGERS – I admire and respect this kind of bloggers. They have a large following and influence. They are the exemplar of dedication. They use their blogs and pages to promote a certain advocacy and cause. They are intellegent people who have the knowledge and spur to change the lives of the readers and their followers. They use their fame and reputation to diversify.
And there you have it, the 5 types of bloggers. I wasn’t able to include all of the types because I only encountered some of them which are the ones on my list.
Do you know any other type of bloggers?
What are they?
What kind of blogger are you?
sigh, where do I fit in….questions that keep me up at night.

I like to think I am in the first group as well. Blogging is all about interactions. Commenting is a vital part of the process.

Lol! Great observation and a great post. I guess, at this early stage, I’m #1. I just want to voice my opinion and experience. Check in on me in a few months!

Great. Being a passionate blogger is enough, even if you are new to this, if you have the drive and passion, you’ll grow, eventually.

I am a passionate blogger, dedicated to my two blogs (A Purpose-driven achiever and Women of Warfare!)
I have a mission and a message to my readers. I am not adept however with social media, so my reach is not that long. As a consequence, I do not attract the followers, comments and likes that enables me to influence the way I desire and envisage but believe it will happen in time.

It will happen. I started with 187 followers earlier this month, I think Twitter or Instagram didn’t really help, but I just spent my spare time, reading, commenting, promoting my blog and, luckily, before this month ends, I got the 1K followers, but that’s just a bonus. I mean, I made a lot of friends on Twitter, IG and even FB, I talk to them occasionally, I love the experience.

I could learn a lot from you if you are willing or have the time to mentor/help me. I am not good on social media. Although to tell you the truth I do not have the time (or make the time) to interact there hours on end.
Facebook just does not seem to work for me. I try to join groups but never seem to hear back or else the group is not as active as I’d like it to be, or else perhaps I don’t know the etiquette and seem to offend. When you say you promote your blog, what do you do other than ask people to visit/follow you?
Plus most people I know are suspicious of the Internet and don’t want to give their email details, so whilst some may read my posts they do not interact.
As you say, it will happen – sooner or later!
Thank you for sharing your strategy and I’m amazed that you got 1K followers in such a short time span. There is hope! 🙂

remember when I first commented on your post? I told you how it made me feel, I told you how good it is, and then, I said something like, “if you don’t mind, can you please follow my blog page, blah” you can say that, I mean, it’s another way of promoting the blog, a lot of people actually checked my blog and then they follow, like I am reading their posts and then I just simply ask them if they can possibly visit my page or follow, and it works, I mean, it’s not like I just leave the comment, I make sure that I read their posts.

Ok. I visit, leave the likes and comment but I don’t ask them to visit or follow me back. Thanks for telling me.

Nice list! I’d like to think that I’m a passionate blogger, but I sadly don’t have enough time to write on a schedule, as I’d like. (I’m also probably one of the bloggers that you might skip through, to be honest, as I tend to write long-ish posts! 😉 😉 )

Hey. I don’t always do that. I love reading, when I am drawn to the post, I don’t care if it’s long or what, lately, I’m learning to reqd every post, long, short, I read them.

I think I a passionate blogger that has been stuck in the hello/goodbye phase for over five years. Blogging as much as I can, reading and commenting but somehow my blog has not attracted more than 200 people. I wonder where I go wrong. However it is great to stumble on this blog. The energy is rad and I believe you are going to be a shining star very soon.

Thank you so much for this comment. Regarding the follows and the audience. I had like, 187 followers earlier this month, but then, I started to become more engaging, like I did with your post, I read a lot, I try to connect, before I know it, I have more followers before this month ends, so I decided to give back, I will be featuring bloggers on my page starting next week, you can participate if you like, since your blog is about hope, I would really like took into it deeper. 🙂

Very good observation. I am not sure what kind of a blogger I am. Infact, i just started last month and have only 6 posts so far. So, it is a little earlh to figure out. I love to write. But, i definitely am a reader. I would read anything. I have this habit of sitting and reading a whole book even if it proves to be boring in the first page itself. I simply completes reading.

Wow. You are a newbie. Just simple interact and engage in the comments section, you’ll eventually be followed by many. Good luck with your blog page. 😊

Hi,
I liked this post, very informative. Hmmmm I’m not sure the kind of blogger I am. I have 3 blogs you probably know them already (Novus, Centi, Swimmers) i try to publish daily , and i try to be as useful as i can, of course i read those i follow, but when it’s a long post i have to jump and jump to read fast ’cause I’ve got too many to read.

Hi… stopped by to thank you for visiting Shift Key and thanks again for your kind comment. BTW, I trust you can write haiku — 5 syllables in the first line, 7 syllables in the second line, and 5 syllables in the third or last line — give it a try. Love your blog. What kind of blogger am I? Hmmm… melancholy? old?… I fit in there somewhere! Best to you as you continue to explore writing–don’t stop!

I thought I should let you know about this company I came across. Right now, they are actively hiring people who know how to use Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Instagram.
If you fit the profile, then you can make great money doing this, as is explained here:

I love this post, it’s eye opening that everyone does actually fall into a category.
I’m new to blogging (other than instagram) so i’m not sure which type I will be yet, apart from a commenter – why read if you’re not going to show some love! I’d love some advice though, how do you grow your interaction? I don’t mind lack of followers, but i’d love more interaction on posts, otherwise what’s the point I could have just kept going with a journal, ha.

Hey. I am so sorry, this comment went into my spam folder.
Well, I use tags to search for new pages, then I read, I comment, I try to interact by asking a simple question, like ‘How long have you been blogging’ it start from there. I also advise them to check out my page, I don’t do follow for follow because I am not really about the numbers anymore. As you can see on my page, I have like, 1300plus followers and I use those numbers to have an audience for the blogger spotlight that I am currently doing. I want to feature new bloggers, just to give ’em a little boost. 😊
